If You Think The Police Station Is Safe…. Think Again!
Recently, I had a chat with with an old friend of mine. He’s currently practising law in the state of Sarawak, East Malaysia. He was my ex-course-mate at the Law Faculty, University Of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur,Malaysia. It’s been a while since I last saw him. In fact we only met once after graduated from the oldest university in Malaysia. So, it was very nice to see him again.
During the two-hour chat, he told me a very interesting story that really happened in Sarawak. It’s kinda bizzare, strange and a bit funny too. It’s about a civil suit in Sarawak not long ago, whereby, a local bank sued their customer who defaulted in his hire purchase payment.
The bank repossessed the car and then proceeded with summon. Since the client wanted to contest the suit, the case went to trial. During the trial the car was placed in the police station as it was evidence in the case. After more than a year, the case was decided in favour of the plantiff (the bank). The bank tried to get back the car only to find that it was in a terrible condition. Many parts were missing and it was no longer in working condition. The police did not offer any good explanation though, claiming that they were not aware that the car was evidence in a suit, etc, leaving the bank with a piece of junk after more than a year of court battle. Ouuchhh…

Oh how typical. Sounds familiar though. This well could have happened in the Philippines. Pyrrhic victory it proved to be for the bank. hahaha.

Could happen anywhere in the world. No wonder most banks are quite slow to proceed with summons these days!

I always thought that the Police in your country never do nasty things.

can't accuse them of stealing without proof, so I can't say what they did is nasty but definately irresponsible (as always
