Hey There Delilah
Although the song was released in 2005, I only first heard it in 2008 when somebody sang it during American Idol’s audition. I guess I’m not so much into music these days, unlike the old days (school days), when my cupboard were full with cassettes and CDs and can never be parted with my walkman (Oh yes, we didn’t have iPod those days). Once the show was over, I immediately googled the song for lyric and watched it in You Tube. Again, how much technology has changed our life today. 25 years ago, I had to wait by my old radio waiting for American Top 40 by Casey Kasem just to hear a song that I like and record it if necessary. If I like it more, I will try to find the cassette or CD to buy it. Certain cassettes or CDs that are difficult to find during my school days had to be brought elsewhere. I will travel to KL or Malacca and even to Singapore just to find the album.
One of the best songs ever written, I just love this song. With just acoustic guitar backing up the vocal, it sounds really soothing and relaxing. If you watch the video on You Tube, you’ll see that it has a pretty good video too.
“Hey There Delilah” is filled with innocent idealism and hope for the future. It’s about love that lasts a lifetime, instead of a one-night stand. It’s an ode to commitment. But most important of all, it is a GREAT SONG to listen. I can listen to it time and time again without feeling bored.
In case you don’t know – “Hey There Delilah,” written by Tom Higgenson, is the third single released from the band Plain White T’s 2005 album All That We Needed. In June 2007, over two years after the song’s release, it became the band’s first hit in the United States, eventually reaching #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in July. How come I missed it??? From July 3, 2007 through July 28, the song was the number one most played song on the radio, and the number one downloaded song on the U.S. iTunes Music Store. Read more in Wikipedia – CLICK HERE.
Time magazine named “Hey There Delilah” one of The 10 Best Songs of 2007, ranking it at #7.[5] Music critic Josh Tyrangiel called it “an intimate love song that’s damn near universal. The song was a 2008 Grammy Award nominee for Song of the Year and Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal, but did not win either award (Amy Winehouse and Maroon 5 won the awards).

From the day 1 till today I still love ‘Black Magic Woman’. Still recall the memories of the 70s where the discos like ‘Tomorrow’ at Merlin Hotel, ‘Time Tunnel’ at AIA Bldg, ‘The Mines’ at KL HIlton, ‘X-Caliber’ at Ampang Park, ‘Glass Bubble’ at Jayapuri Hotel and ‘Underground’ Jln Barat, PJ, the live bands will repeatedly play this Santana music. Those were the days…hahaha!

i rmmber i was youtubing lots of their songs years ago (of course under the influence of radio where they were playing the song non stop!) haha
