I think I want to gloat. Not only has the Spanish football team won the World Cup 2010 last night but the La Furia Roja also showed to the world that they played the best football in the planet.
Like Paul The Octapus, I had predicted that Spain will beat Holland for the title. Unlike Paul The Octapus, I had predicted Spain to become the champion before the tournament even started. Congratulations to the Spanish football team. They thoroughly deserve it. I’m happy to see the smile on Vicente del Bosque’s face. Again, he showed us that he’s a man with a midas touch. Real Madrid must be crazy for sacking him years ago!
I’m disappointed with the Dutch. Obviously they are intimidated by the RED FURY (LA FURIA ROJA)! Right from the start, they set themselves defending and try to hit back with the counter attack. They were hoping to do what Swiss and Paraguay did and frustrated the Spain. To their credit, the plan actually worked well and had it not been for some brilliant goal keeping by Iker Casillas, it could have been Holland and NOT Spain who are celebrating now.

But for now, everybody will be looking forward to Sunday’s final – it’s the day when a NEW CHAMPION is born and I still believe it’s going to be Spain.
For the best three years or so, Barcelona has been the BEST FOOTBALL TEAM in the planet. There should be no dispute about that notwithstanding who won the Champion League last May. Their football is poetry in motion – so good and so beautiful and that’s coming from a Manchester United’s fan. Amazingly, the core of the team were largely built around local home-grown talent compared to La Liga title rival, Real Madrid, who spent lavishly on highly expensive players around the globe. The Catalan giant’s policy had been very fruitful as the likes of Xavi, Iniesta and Puyol helped them to consecutives league titles, 2009 Champion League and FIFA World Club trophy. In comparison, Real has won nothing over the past two years.
