Kad OKU – Bagi mereka yang mempunyai anak-anak kurang upaya atau lebih sesuai kita panggil kanak-kanak istimewa, adalah amat penting bagi anda mendaftarkan anak-anak anda dengan Jabatan Kebajikan Masyarakat dan menempatkan mereka di sekolah kanak-kanak yang seperti mereka. Ini amat perlu kerana, kebanyakkan mereka sukar untuk mengikuti pembelajaran dalam aliran biasa – akibatnya mereka akan merasa terpinggir dan kecewa.

Kad Orang Kurang Upaya atau Kad OKU boleh di pohon di Jabatan Kebajikan Masyarakat dengan mengisi borang yang disediakan. Beberapa dokumen lain seperti sijil lahir yang diSAHkan oleh Jabatan Pendaftaran perlu juga dilampirkan. Proses akan memakan sedikit masa dan Ibubapa harus SABAR berulang-alik ke Jabatan tertentu dan hospital sebelum Kad OKU ini diperolehi. Kerenah sesetengah penjawat awam turut perlu dihadapi dengan sabar bagi kebaikan bersama.

Ada 4 borang yang perlu diisi oleh ibubapa. Semuanya adalah salinan yang sama dan perlu di bawa ke Pegawai Perubatan Kanak-Kanak untuk diisikan. Beberapa ujian seperti ujian pendengaran akan dibuat sebelum Pegawai Perubatan berpuas hati bahawa anak anda adalah autisma dan menyokong pemberian Kad OKU serta ditempatkan ke sekolah anak-anak istimewa ini. Tidak seperti “down syndrome”, kanak-kanak autisme agak sukar di bezakan dengan anak-anak biasa. Sila baca posting ini.

Borang yang diisi akan disimpan oleh pihak hospital (1 salinan), pihak Jabatan Kebajikan Masyarakat (1 salinan), Kementerian Pendidikan (1 salinan), Ibu Bapa (1 salinan). Kad OKU yang dikeluarkan boleh digunakan untuk pelbagai tujuan lain seperti kad ganti identiti kanak-kanak dan permohonan bantuan tertentu. Pemegang kad di KECUALIKAN dari bayaran bil hospital kerajaan, pendaftaran percuma di perpustakaan, masuk percuma di tempat tertentu seperti Muzium dan Zoo serta mendapat diskaun di beberapa tertentu. Mereka juga mendapat bantuan kewangan setiap tahun bagi membiayai kos pembelajaran, tuisyen dsb.

Kad OKU yang diperolehi adalah seumur hidup dan tidak perlu di perbahrui. Pastikan anda menyimpan salinan dokumen anda dengan baik kerana ia amat diperlukan jika Kad OKU anak anda hilang, rosak dan sebagainya.

TM-Net / Streamyx HOTLINE – Can Really Make You Feel HOT!

Streamyx HOTLINE – One of the setbacks suffered by internet users in Malaysia is the poor services provided by the country’s main ISP, i.e, the TM (Telekom Malaysia) Berhad. Having been involved in the industry for more than a decade, many expect better and improved performance from TM, but to date it has been nothing but a big let down. If you try googling the internet, you will find many postings from digruntled TM’s Streamyx users expressing their dissatisfaction with TM. Obviously, how will you explain problems like the one that I faced recently (Read below). It’s really annoying and makes you feel like cutting your internet account immediately and subscribe to another ISP!

Normally, when there are problems with your internet connection, you normally dial 100 (TM’s general number) or 1300-88-9515 for TMnet Streamyx Hotline. I prefer the later because it connects me directly to Streamyx‘s department. Whenever the line is unavailable (for whatever reason), I’ll dial 100. But since 100 is a general line, one will be wasting plenty of time keying-in the codes before directed to the Streamyx department. There was one time when they tried to connect me to other department and I was left waiting for 45 minutes. You may wonder why I didn’t just hang up the phone after a few minutes. Well, I was in need of internet urgently as I was doing research for my work. Since the 1300 line was not working and the other line was giving s0 much trouble just to speak to TM‘s operator, I told myself to be patient and just wait for them to connect me to the right man/women. Well, I ended up doing my work at Cyber Cafe instead and only managed to solve my home internet connection the following day. [Streamyx HOTLINE]

By the way, if you are using TM’s webmail, you better be sure that you pay your bill on time. Once you get disconnnected, you won’t be able to use your webmail until you notify them about the problem, even if you have settled your bill until the last cent. Yes, they won’t automatically unblock your webmail after you made the payments. In most cases, you will find yourself in the situation like in paragraph 3 again. Then you will realize why they call it hotline – it can really make you feel very HOT!!!!
