What is Paypal?
PayPal is an e-commerce business allowing payments and money transfers to be made through the Internet. It serves as an electronic alternative to traditional paper methods such as cheques and money orders. PayPal performs payment processing for online vendors, auction sites, and other corporate users, for which it charges a fee. The transfer is immediate and guaranteed. PayPal won’t transfer funds unless the buyer has a credit line (or money in bank account) to make the transfer. PayPal is not a bank. Thus, the accounts are not federally insured in the same way as a traditional bank account, however they do offer their own private insurance.

PayPal now constitutes over 10% of all Internet traffic in the financial services category, more than Citibank, Wells Fargo and Bank of America combined.
In order to participate in PayPal, you must sign up to be a member. Right now (April 2007) it’s free. In fact, it remains a free service as long as you remain only a buyer, meaning money only moves from your account to someone else’s account or you request from your own monetary sources.
Why Use Paypal?
If you wish to accept payment through credit card online, you have to set up a secure server, attain a secure certificate from Verisign, and have a shopping cart / checkout system program. It will cost you a fairly decent amount of money. With PayPal, you can basically bypass all of that.
PayPal is the preferred payment service for online auctions, and for online community and group websites. Recommended by CNET as “the most reliable personal payment service,” PayPal is also being increasingly used at e-commerce sites. PayPal’s service, free to consumers, can be used from PCs or Web-enabled mobile phones.
How Can I Make Money Using Paypal?
You can make money by selling the product at Ebay or at your own website or through e-mail campaigns. Actually, it is not necessary for you to sell your own product. You can sell other people’s product by becoming a reseller or joining an affilliate programme. For Malaysian, there are plenty of affiliate programmes that you can join and there also plenty of internet gurus who are looking for people to be reseller of their products.
